Profile Details
In June 2006 a conference that brought together about 35 M and E experts from the public, private, and civil society sectors and development practitioners working in Tanzania was conducted. It was during this conference, a Steering Committee of the Tanzania Evaluation Association was nominated to spearhead the establishment of the Association in Tanzania.
Committee members were drawn from the following organisations: Research and Poverty Alleviation (REPOA), Foundation for Civil Society (FCS), UNICEF, KIM Consult, AMICA Tanzania, TRACE (OD Facilitation and Training Centre), Kimara Peer Educators and President’s Office (PSM). Since then a number of processes have been going on.
TanEA has evolved from the momentous world Agenda on Sustainable Development and governance by evaluation. This is a new policy dimension where integration (trade-off) and multi-level governance are the major guiding principles. At this interface, evaluation becomes an important tool for legitimization, moderation, learning, and accountability to achieve sustainable development.
Tanzania Evaluation Association is a membership organization of evaluation professionals and practitioners from the public, private, and civil society sectors and development practitioners working in Tanzania. The association is a result of a series of inspirational conferences on evaluation and development organized by the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA) in 2002, 2004, and 2006.
The organization has evolved from the momentous world agenda on sustainable development and governance by evaluation. This is a new policy style where integration (trade-off) and Multi-level governance are the major guiding principles. At this interface, evaluation becomes an important tool for decision-making, legitimization, moderation, learning, and accountability to achieve sustainable development.
