African School of Evaluation (ASE)
African School of Evaluation
Professionalizing African Evaluation Practice
About ASE
The African School of Evaluation (ASE) is a transformative initiative by the African Evaluation Association (AfrEA), designed to strengthen evaluation capacity across Africa. ASE aims to develop a new generation of skilled evaluators capable of conducting high-quality assessments that align with local needs, international standards, and the Made in Africa Evaluation approach.
Â
Why ASE?
Evaluation is essential for effective governance, informed policymaking, and sustainable development. However, Africa faces significant challenges, including a shortage of specialized training, limited degree programs, and fragmented regional coordination. The ASE was created to bridge this gap, fostering local expertise and reducing reliance on foreign evaluators.
Â
Our Mission
ASE is committed to:
- Developing evaluation skills through specialized courses tailored to Africa’s priorities.
- Creating learning opportunities for professionals to gain certification in evaluation.
- Building a community of practice to foster collaboration among African evaluators.
- Enhancing governance and public policy through evidence-based decision-making.
Training Programs
ASE offers structured, hands-on courses led by expert trainers. The first edition will take place in November 2025 in Accra, Ghana, in collaboration with the University of Accra. Each training session will focus on key themes in evaluation, ensuring practical and applicable learning experiences.
