In a high-level engagement reaffirming the crucial role of parliaments in evaluation, AfrEA President Dr. Miché Ouédraogo was received in audience by His Excellency El Malick Ndiaye, President of the National Assembly of Senegal.

The meeting, held in Dakar, was attended by key parliamentary figures, including the Honorable Mohamed Sall (Member of Parliament and elected Secretary) and Mr. Mamadou Yauck (Special Advisor to the President of the Assembly).

A Continued Partnership

This courtesy visit served as a valuable opportunity to strengthen the bonds between AfrEA and the Senegalese legislative body. Dr. Ouédraogo conveyed AfrEA’s heartfelt appreciation for the remarkable participation of the National Assembly’s delegation at AfrEA’s 25th Anniversary celebrations, held in Addis Ababa in June 2025.

Strategic Alignment: Evidence and Impact

During the audience, Dr. Ouédraogo presented AfrEA’s renewed mission and strategic priorities. The discussion highlighted three core objectives:

  • Strengthening national evaluation systems.
  • Promoting evidence-based public policies.
  • Advancing evaluation approaches that are deeply rooted in African realities.

Institutionalizing Evaluation in Parliament

A focal point of the deliberations was the major institutional reforms currently underway in Senegal. Specifically, the leaders discussed the institutionalization of parliamentary engagement in public policy evaluation. AfrEA recognizes this move as an inspiring testament to Senegal’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and a results-driven culture.
