AfrEA visits its VOPE in Rwanda

The Vice President of AfrEA, Dr. Awuor PONGE, paid a courtesy visit to the Rwanda Monitoring and Evaluation Organisation (RMEO) in November 2024. During the visit, he presented AfrEA’s strategic vision for 2024-2028 which aims to foster a culture of evaluation and evidence-based decision-making to contribute to Africa’s development.
After getting familiarised with the vision, objectives and initiatives of RMEO through a presentation by its Project Coordinator, Jean Baptiste NIYONSENGA, Dr. PONGE held a discussion with the RMEO team where he emphasized the importance of aligning the organisation’s strategies with both national and international trends to unlock various opportunities. He highlighted that such alignment not only enhances credibility but also positions RMEO to access resources and technical support from diverse stakeholders.
During dinner, offered by RMEO President, Alex Kashaija MUGABO, he emphasized his commitment to showcase RMEO as a Centre of Excellence for Evaluation Practice in Rwanda, working closely with the Government of Rwanda. AfrEA’s Vice-President assured him of the goodwill and support of the AfrEA President, Dr. Miché OUEDRAOGO, on any initiatives that align with AfrEA’s priority strategic objectives, and especially on mentoring Young and Emerging Evaluators (YEEs). He said this referencing support provided to a Rwanda YEE to attend the 7th edition of the francophone emerging evaluators camp in Benin.
