AGDEN showcases indigenous evaluation practices in Africa

In 2023, the Ford Foundation made a grant to the global EvalIndigenous network to undertake a project whose goal was to curate concepts, theories and practices of Indigenous evaluators and knowledge holders, disseminate the findings to a global audience, Indigenous peoples, evaluation funders and decision-makers, and strengthen demand for Indigenous evaluation practices.
The project was undertaken in Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean.
The African Gender Development Evaluators’ Network (AGDEN), an AfrEA VOPE headquartered in Kenya, implemented some of the Africa project activities through seed grants. It provided grants of up US$ 1500 each to five small research groups from Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon and Cote d’Ivoire.
On Thursday, 14th November, EvalIndigenous and AGDEN hosted the Francophone presenters; Arnoux M. Nopi and Dago K. Bebey at a webinar facilitated by the two Co-Chairs of EvalIndigenous, Fiona Cram PhD. and Serge Eric Y. Djiam CE, where the findings and lessons of their research were shared. Their research plans for phase 2 of the project which has already been approved and funding provided were also discussed.
