Made in Africa Evaluation
Despite the existence of a few national evaluation networks in Africa, evaluation capacity-building efforts were mostly driven by international development organisations. African evaluators operated in an isolated context, often unable to mobilise the necessary resources and capacities crucial to facilitate effective up-scaling of evaluation practices within countries.
With its Secretariat in Accra, Ghana, AfrEA was founded in 1999 in response to a growing demand for information sharing, advocacy, and advanced evaluation capacity building in Africa. AfrEA has hosted eight International Evaluation conferences across Africa to promote the development of Africa-rooted, Africa-led M&E.
